Pets of the Homeless Australia provides food, veterinary care and other support to pet owners in need. We help people who are at risk of or currently experiencing homelessness by making sure their companion pets are well looked after.
Anyone with a pet knows the comfort, security and real friendship they provide. You’d also do everything you could to care for your best friend. So what would you do if you and your pet had a drastic change in circumstances?
Every day we hear from people facing tough circumstances who put their pet’s needs ahead of their own. That’s why we’re committed to providing support to the pets of people facing and experiencing homelessness – with one less thing to worry about, we’re helping people get back on their feet.
In many instances, people find themselves experiencing homelessness very suddenly. But a rapid change in circumstances doesn’t mean the need for pet care stops. When facing homelessness, the security and companionship of a pet is a comfort many people value above all else and as a result people often try to ensure their pet’s health ahead of their own.
Pets of the Homeless Australia is 95% community funded. Your donations are essential in helping our organisation provide regular food donations, veterinary care, emergency boarding and more to pet owners in need.
Your tax-deductible donation will help keep people and their pets together – preventing hunger, suffering, abandonment, surrender and loss of the animals they love.
Our volunteers are vital to our ongoing success. They help us reach more people in need and make a lasting impact on their lives.
From running fundraising activities to helping us pack pet food (Kibble Packing Team) to assisting with delivery (Pet Food Courier), there are many ways you can volunteer with us. The commitment is flexible and the rewards are immense.
The first step is to fill in our application form via our website. Feel free to include anything that you’d like us to know, and that in turn will help us find you the best volunteer position. Once you have completed and submitted the application form, our volunteer co-ordinator will be in touch with you to discuss your application further. We also have skilled positions listed on the Seek Volunteer website.
*We sometimes post community Kibble Packing Events and also some fundraising events on our Facebook page; these events are open to everyone but fill up fast, so if you are not doing so already please LIKE and follow us on Facebook so you can join us then.
